Greenhouse

In 2014 UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) established a greenhouse atop of Building 44, which contains the university’s hydroponic system. The greenhouse acts as a lab for environmental sustainability and agriculture related classes. It also plays an important role for many UDC certificate classes such as Master Gardening Certificate class managed by the Center for Urban Agriculture and Gardening Education (CUAGE) and Master Naturalist Certification program provided by the Center for Sustainable Development and Resilience (CSDR). During the last three years, the greenhouse has been used to grow thousands of seedlings by over 100 volunteers who has been joined CAUSES. The greenhouse provides the CAUSES and UDC with a great opportunity to engage students and the community on many sustainability and food production activities.
